Robin Gurland, the casting director of Lucasfilms, searched all over the world for the perfect fit of the kid that would grow up to become Darth Vader. Eventually, they narrowed their search to England, Ireland North America and Scotland and turned their attention to schools looking for non-actors and agencies that looked for working actors. After 3000 auditions, three people stood out. Jake Lloyd, Devon Michael, and Michael Angarano, with Lloyd winning out in the end.
